ACLU of North Carolina
U.S. progressive civil liberties advocacy
The ACLU of North Carolina is a nonprofit civil liberties advocacy and legal organization — not a news outlet — that litigates cases, lobbies the state legislature, and campaigns on issues including voting rights, immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, and reproductive freedom. It is a state affiliate of the national ACLU, funded almost entirely by private donations. Since the start of the Trump administration's second term in January 2025, the organization has been broadly critical, filing and joining lawsuits challenging federal immigration enforcement operations, voter-roll purge programs, and other administration policies.
