Charles Schwab
U.S. financial/investor-focused, markets-oriented
Background
The Charles Schwab Corporation was founded in California in 1971 by Charles R. Schwab and became a pioneer of discount brokerage after the SEC deregulated commissions in May 1975. The company grew into the largest publicly traded U.S. investment services firm, managing roughly $9–10 trillion in client assets by the mid-2020s. Schwab's media channel has its roots in TD Ameritrade Network, which TD Ameritrade launched on October 24, 2017, as the first live, 24/7 financial broadcast network owned and operated by a financial institution. After Schwab completed its $26 billion all-stock acquisition of TD Ameritrade in 2020, the network transitioned to Schwab ownership and was officially rebranded as Schwab Network on August 21, 2023. The channel streams over-the-top (OTT) on connected devices and the web at no cost to viewers, carrying live market coverage, analyst interviews, and investor education programming during market hours and beyond. Viewership reached 58 million in 2025, a 47% year-over-year increase. The Schwab Corporation has notable financial ties to the Trump administration's second term — Trump secured a loan of more than $50 million from Schwab Bank in 2025 and holds investment accounts managed by Schwab, and the company agreed to match the government's contribution to Trump Accounts (children's savings accounts created under Trump-era legislation) — though these corporate ties are distinct from Schwab Network's editorial output, which centers on markets rather than political coverage.
