CIDRAP is a research and news center housed at the University of Minnesota, founded in 2001 by epidemiologist Michael Osterholm and funded primarily by philanthropic foundations. Its news service covers infectious disease and public health policy from a science-first standpoint and claims editorial independence from its funders. Since January 2025, its coverage has been broadly critical of the Trump administration, focusing on CDC and NIH funding cuts, vaccine policy changes under HHS Secretary RFK Jr., and U.S. withdrawal from the WHO — and in 2025 it launched a Vaccine Integrity Project explicitly in response to those shifts.
