CompositesWorld
U.S. industry trade (composites manufacturing)
Background
CompositesWorld traces its roots to September 1993, when Gardner Publications (later rebranded Gardner Business Media Inc.) launched two bimonthly magazines, High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology, to serve the then-emerging advanced composites industry. The two titles ran separately for over two decades, covering different segments of the market — HPC focused on aerospace and advanced fiber applications, while CT addressed broader industrial uses. In January 2015, the two magazines were merged into a single monthly publication under the unified CompositesWorld (CW) banner. In January 2020, Gardner Business Media acquired the media assets of NetComposites Ltd., a U.K.-based composites news brand, extending CW's international reach. By its 30th anniversary in 2023, CompositesWorld had a monthly print circulation of more than 32,000 and over 213,000 page views per month on its website. Gardner Business Media, founded in 1928 and privately held, runs multiple manufacturing trade titles; CompositesWorld is its composites-specific flagship. The publication's editorial tone is technical and practical — it covers workforce development, certification, supply chain, and policy (such as wind energy tax credits) only insofar as those topics directly affect composites manufacturers.
