Background

Daily Tribune was founded on February 1, 2000 by journalists from the defunct Philippine Post, led by editor-in-chief and founding chairman Ninez Cacho-Olivares. Through the 2000s and 2010s it was published by Tribune Publishing Company. Media Ownership Monitor data from a 2016 SEC filing shows Olica Development Corporation holding 50 percent, with the Olivares family holding the rest. The paper was widely reported to have been raided by police in February 2006, during the state of emergency declared by then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. That raid is a well-known press-freedom episode in the Philippines. In June 2018 Cacho-Olivares sold the paper to Concept and Information Group, Inc., which now owns and publishes it from Makati. The sources I could reach gave no detailed assessment of its recent editorial slant, and I could not open the full Wikipedia and Media Ownership Monitor pages. Its political leaning under the current owner is therefore not firmly established here, and its foreign-policy and U.S. coverage is not documented.
