Background

Fox Business Network launched on October 15, 2007, as a direct competitor to CNBC, built by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation with the explicit goal of offering a business news alternative with a more market-friendly, conservative bent. The network poached talent from CNBC at launch, including anchor Neil Cavuto. For most of its early history it lagged CNBC in ratings, but by 2025 it surpassed CNBC in viewership across the board for the first time.
