KSAT
U.S. local TV news, center / mostly nonpartisan
Background
KSAT-TV (channel 12) signed on January 21, 1957, as KONO-TV. Outlet Communications bought it in January 1968 and changed the call letters to KSAT-TV on February 1 of that year. Outlet was taken private in 1986, and its new owners sold KSAT to H&C Communications. The Washington Post Company (later Graham Holdings) acquired the station afterward. Its TV group was known as Post-Newsweek Stations before being renamed Graham Media Group, and it is now based in Detroit. Sister stations include KPRC in Houston, WDIV in Detroit, WKMG in Orlando, WJXT and WCWJ in Jacksonville, and WSLS in Roanoke. KSAT runs the ksat.com website along with local newscasts, and its leadership includes general manager Ashley Parker. Like most local TV stations, it focuses on crime, weather, traffic, local government and investigations, and it tends to avoid explicit editorializing. Network ABC programming and national wire content can reflect mainstream U.S. media framing, but KSAT's own coverage is generally seen as centrist and local.
