Background

KTVB began broadcasting on July 12, 1953 as KIDO-TV, the first television station in Idaho. Georgia Davidson founded it. She was one of only three women who owned NBC-affiliated stations at the time, and she also owned KIDO radio. She sold the radio station in 1958, and the TV station became KTVB on February 1, 1959. It later passed to Gannett, which kept the station when its broadcasting business was spun off in 2015 as Tegna. Nexstar announced its purchase of Tegna in August 2025, and the deal closed on March 19, 2026.
