Background
LifeZette was launched in 2015 by conservative political commentator Laura Ingraham and businessman Peter Anthony as a right-leaning digital news outlet based in Washington, D.C. It quickly positioned itself as a pro-Trump voice during the 2016 presidential race, and The Intercept noted its close ties to Trump's circle soon after the election. The site drew criticism during 2016 for spreading conspiracy theories, including a video alleging Hillary and Bill Clinton were linked to dozens of deaths and pieces promoting the Seth Rich and Vincent Foster conspiracy theories. By late 2017 the outlet faced financial difficulties and was reportedly close to closure before a January 2018 sale of a majority stake to KG Airco Inc., a subsidiary of The Katz Group controlled by Canadian billionaire and Edmonton Oilers owner Daryl Katz; Ingraham retained a minority interest. Media Bias/Fact Check rates LifeZette as Far Right with mixed factual reporting, and Ad Fontes Media places it in its Hyper-Partisan Right tier while flagging reliability concerns. The outlet also operates sister properties including PoliZette, MomZette, and FaithZette.
