U.S. center-left
NPR is a nonprofit public radio network governed by its member stations and funded primarily through corporate sponsors and listener donations. Bias-rating organizations place it left of center, and its journalism has drawn consistent criticism from conservatives for decades. Since January 2025 it has been in open conflict with the Trump administration, successfully fighting in federal court against an executive order that sought to cut all remaining federal support for NPR and PBS.
Owned byNonprofit membership organization; NPR is owned by roughly 1,000 member stations, most of which are themselves nonprofits run by universities, school districts, and community boards
