Background

Brad Little took office as Idaho's governor in January 2019, succeeding Butch Otter as the state's Republican executive. Idaho is a reliably Republican state, and the governor's office reflects that orientation in its official communications. During Trump's first term, Little maintained a working relationship with the federal administration while occasionally pursuing Idaho-specific priorities. In 2022, Trump broke with Little and endorsed his primary challenger, Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin, but Little won the Republican primary and was reelected.
