Prologis Investor Relations / PR Newswire
U.S. corporate investor relations — not an editorial outlet
Background
Prologis, Inc. traces its roots to two industrial real estate companies: AMB Property Corporation, co-founded in 1983 by Hamid Moghadam and Doug Abbey in San Francisco, and Security Capital Industrial Trust, founded in 1991. The two merged in June 2011 to form Prologis in its current form, creating the world's largest logistics real estate platform. The company has been publicly traded on the NYSE (ticker: PLD) since the 1990s and elected REIT status in 1997. It operates hundreds of millions of square feet of warehouses and distribution centers across more than 19 countries. PR Newswire, the wire service Prologis uses to distribute press releases, was founded in 1954 by Herbert Muschel as a way to transmit press releases electronically via teleprinter; it was later acquired by Western Union, then United Business Media (UBM), and finally by Cision in 2016 for approximately $841 million. Cision itself was taken private by Platinum Equity in 2019 for $2.74 billion. PR Newswire functions purely as a distribution infrastructure — it carries no editorial content of its own, and the material released through it reflects only the views and disclosures of the issuing corporation.
