SportsPro
UK sports-industry trade (apolitical)
Background
SportsPro was founded in June 2008 by British journalist and publisher Tom Rubython as a successor to his earlier motorsport business title BusinessF1, broadening its scope to cover the entire sports industry. Henley Media Group, a London-based private media company established in 2003, acquired SportsPro from Rubython in February 2009. Under Henley's ownership the outlet expanded into digital publishing, data products, and a conference business that now runs more than ten events annually with roughly 5,000 attendees. It tracks sports deals valued above $500,000 and publishes research including its annual World's 50 Most Marketable Athletes ranking. SportsPro produces more than 3,200 stories a year and draws close to six million website visits annually. No significant editorial controversies have been documented; the publication's reputation rests on straightforward sports-business reporting aimed at industry insiders rather than advocacy or political commentary.
