Background

UNITED24 Media launched in July 2022, during the early months of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as the English-language media arm of the UNITED24 platform — a fundraising and public-communications initiative created by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation announced and coordinated the project, with the concept developed pro bono by Fedoriv Marketing & Innovations Agency, a prominent Kyiv-based creative firm. The outlet is run voluntarily by Ukraine's advertising and media community, led by Valentin Paniuta of Fedoriv; it has claimed not to accept direct government funding, brand sponsorship, or donations, though its structural ties to the Ukrainian state's UNITED24 infrastructure lead outside observers and press-watchdog organizations to classify it as state-aligned advocacy journalism. Media Bias/Fact Check rates it Left-Center in editorial orientation and Mostly Factual in accuracy, while assigning it only medium credibility due to a lack of organizational transparency about ownership, staffing, and finances. The outlet's own editorial policy explicitly rejects the notion that 'balanced representation' requires giving a platform to 'internationally recognized enemies of human rights,' a formulation aimed at barring Russian state narratives from its coverage. A 2026 peer-reviewed study examined how UNITED24 Media uses Instagram and YouTube to 'platformize' pro-Ukraine narratives and shape international visibility of the war. Coverage has grown to include embedded front-line war reporting, investigations into Russian disinformation and sanctions evasion, and features on Ukrainian culture, technology, and business. Under the second Trump administration, which has pressed Ukraine toward negotiations and at times paused or reduced military aid, UNITED24 Media's coverage has reflected a broadly critical posture toward those policy choices.
