White & Case
N/A — not a news outlet
Background
White & Case was founded on May 1, 1901, by Wall Street lawyers Justin DuPratt White and George B. Case, who each contributed $250 to open a two-room office on Nassau Street in New York. The firm built early prominence advising J.P. Morgan & Co. and helping structure Bankers Trust Company. It became one of the first U.S. law firms to open a foreign office, establishing a Paris outpost on Place Vendôme. During the 1990s it expanded into Eastern Europe, advising on privatization programs in Russia, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Today it is a major global firm with revenue exceeding $3 billion and practices spanning mergers and acquisitions, international arbitration, capital markets, and sanctions law. In 2023, Heather McDevitt became the firm's first female Chair in its 125-year history. Because it is a law firm and not a media organization, it has no publishing history, editorial record, or ideological orientation to characterize.
