WilmingtonBiz
U.S. local business / apolitical
Background
WilmingtonBiz was founded in 2000 as the Greater Wilmington Business Journal, originally operating out of 130 N. Front Street in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. Rob Kaiser purchased the publication in 2007, and in 2013 Robert Preville — a local entrepreneur and former owner of Global Test Supply — joined as a 50 percent co-owner, prompting a relocation and expansion of offices. The parent entity, Wilmington Media + Marketing (operating as SAJ Media, LLC), also publishes WILMA magazine and provides marketing services, giving the organization a hybrid media-and-events business model. The publication is a member of the Alliance of Area Business Publishers, which groups it with other locally focused business journals across the country. Its editorial mission, as stated publicly, is to provide objective information to help the local business community make informed decisions, and its coverage has remained oriented toward economic and commercial topics rather than partisan commentary. WilmingtonBiz produces recurring recognition franchises such as the WilmingtonBiz 100, which profiles Power Players, Influencers, and Rising Stars in the regional business world. No significant editorial controversies or major ownership disputes have been reported in available sources.
