American Enterprise Institute

The Korean Peninsula Update is a weekly security-analysis newsletter co-produced by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), two Washington, D.C.-based right-of-center policy organizations. AEI is funded entirely by private donations and endowment income, with major historical donors drawn from conservative foundations, and advocates for free markets, limited government, and an assertive U.S. foreign policy. The newsletter takes a hawkish, alliance-focused view of Korean Peninsula security and has raised concerns about aspects of Trump's second-term posture that it sees as weakening extended deterrence commitments to South Korea.
