Peter G. Peterson Foundation

The Peter G. Peterson Foundation is a New York–based nonprofit bankrolled by a $1 billion endowment from the late Wall Street financier Peter G. Peterson. It focuses almost exclusively on federal debt, deficits, and entitlement spending, and while it calls itself nonpartisan, its core position—that Washington must cut spending and reform Social Security and Medicare—aligns with center-right fiscal orthodoxy. Under the second Trump administration, the Foundation has been openly critical of policies it says worsen the long-term debt outlook, including the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
